"ESA von Schraderhaus"
Aida Maestus x Mango Cerna Bohemia
Female Schraderhaus "E" Litter
|
|
Hi Jean
...Just a quick note to let you know
that Esa, at 11 months old, passed
her level 1 cadaver certification.
The test has a time limitation of
one hour to find all sources.
She aced it in 9 minutes. What
a great dog. I can’t actually
field her until she is a year old,
but she will be ready to go.
And I love her size. She is
just 66 pounds. My last two
were both 85 and I am loving having
a smaller dog. Cris

I have a
pup from Jean that is now 7 months
old. She is from Aida and
Mango. I have
had quite a few fantastic german
shepherds in my 30 years in search &
rescue but this dog is truly
amazing. Not only does she
have fantastic drives for cadaver
and tracking but she is incredibly
willing to do whatever I ask of her.
I have to keep in mind that she is
just a pup, because she has the
intensity and focus of an adult
working dog. Another
thing I like about this dog that is
hard to find, is that she has an off
switch. She is very
affectionate and social but is a
different dog when I put her to
work.
I teach
seminars for search and rescue dogs,
thus see a lot of working dogs.
This kind of dog is truly hard to
find. Super smart pup. I
show her something once or twice and
she just gets it. Thanks
for breeding such great dogs Jean.
I will definitely refer people to
you who are looking for a great
german shepherd. Cris Goodhue Montana

Dear Jean, I just can't say
enough about this boy or even
thank you enough for trusting me
with him. He's my dream dog! I
waited 4yrs to get a dog just
like him and he is soo much
better than I ever dreamed he
would be!! He's so smart,
willing to please, always by my
side, wonderful desire to work,
never ending energy, perfect
focus, great bite, an amazing
nose, great with other dogs and
animals, LOVES children, and has
all the beauty to match his
drives, smarts, and temperment.
He's the total package! He's
going through his foundation
training in bitework with me
now, and will soon be off to the
trainers in April for his more
intense protection training. I
hope to get him fully protection
trained and do tracking for the
time being. And who know's what
else we will get into. With him,
the possibilities are endless!

"Merica von Schraderhaus"
aka
Nikita
Denzi von Schraderhaus x Gerry von
Weltwitz
Female "M" Litter
|
|
Nikita
was introduced to my practice as a
puppy. I have a dual
specialization: trauma (PTSD) and
substance abuse. For a canine to
work as a therapy dog in these areas
is challenging. The canine must
have an intuitive sense about people
and be able to work on several
different levels. Nikita is
empathetic and goes to people in
distress, allowing them to stroke
and hug her while also having a
commanding presence that works as a
deterrence if someone is high and
acting in an aggressive manner.
Rarely has Nikita needed to act as a
deterrent. Most people love dogs
and smile the moment they see her.
She dissolves their anxiety and
normalizes the treatment center by
her friendly presence but the fact
that she is a beautiful German
Shepherd also demands a level of
respect. Since she has been a part
of this environment since puppyhood,
she is completely comfortable
greeting men and women. Nikita is
the second German Shepherd to work
with me as a therapeutic dog. I had
not anticipated the feelings of
safety and security a well trained
German Shepherd can bring to a
therapeutic environment. Nikita
upholds this proud tradition and is
truly a beautiful angel unaware. Dona

Sadie at 5.5 wks |
"Sadie von Schraderhaus"
Ittiaina von Schraderhaus x Lux vom Kameruner Eck
Female Schraderhaus "S" Litter |
Sadie at 46.5 mos |
It's been quite a few years
since i got Sadie from you. I
was the Army Vet with ptsd
living in the woods that came to
you after four years of
searching for the right breeder
and boy did i find you guys!!!
It's funny to me because i
supposedly had gotten a runt
female from the litter of lux
and ittiana that also wasn't the
ideal selection choice for those
wanting to do tracking. I had no
intention of really training for
certs, but got involved in doing
obedience and tracking which she
excelled in. I have been in
training with her for four years
now. She goes with me
everywhere, she's a beast. Her
instincts are beyond anything
I've ever encountered in a dog.
The way she naturally guards,
naturally hunts and stalks.
She's almost completely silent
while stalking. If I'm asleep
and someone or something is
coming near, she gives low
rumble growls to alert me and
takes off in silence. As a
combat vet with ptsd, the first
time i ever slept a full night
was when she came into my life.
She protects fiercely and has no
fear! My Trainor says she is
extremely handler sensitive and
that's what's its like. She
responds to the tiniest of
gestures and i often don't have
to say a word. She acts with the
intelligence of an 8 year old
human child it seems at times.
She has become my best friend
and battle buddy. She has saved
my life in so many ways and i
mean that literally. I have not
met anyone who does not come up
to me and tell me how beautiful
she is. She has the most
beautiful markings and birth
marks. I never knew that dogs
like her existed. And that
breeders like you existed. The
most astounding things about my
girl are her instincts, the
things she naturally does that i
didn't train. Sadie naturally is
i guess what you'd say as the
alpha bitch in my "pack" per
say. She runs the show and does
all the confrontation work when
me and her are approached. Her
motivation and self esteem are
through the roof. And did i
mention her ability to swim? She
can swim for six hours straight
in a river with current and
still not be tired. To be
honest, i don't know how to tire
her out. She sleeps and guards
me at night when i close my
eyes, she goes on alert. It's
the most astounding thing I've
ever seen. She also had not been
fixed yet. I have not bred her
and have no plans, just wanted
her to develope properly. She is
also extremely nurturing, as
soon as she is near children,
she immediately acts and plays
so softly it's jaw dropping.
I am now working with other
veterans and even have two
combat vets now living with me
which at the time i got Sadie, i
was a complete loner. So i
wanted to start inquiring with
you again about two and possibly
three more dogs from you. I
personally would like to get
Sadie a companion, and one maybe
two of the vets here wants to
get a dog from you to help them
in the ways they have seen Sadie
help me.
We have been saving but won't
have close to the funds till
around November or December. But
any liters you feel might be
right for us then we would be
interested. You selected Sadie
for me, so i have my full
confidence in you and your dogs
and kennel. But to recap maybe
some of the things i said to you
when i got Sadie, i was looking
for a companion dogs that wasn't
bouncing off the walls(funny,
Sadie is a beast that never
stops, but now i love it!! So
glad you disregarded that
request of mine..lolz!!!) Also
that i lived in the woods, work
about in the woods and run into
mountain lions and bears. I
wanted a dog that wasn't going
to challenge the alpha role
every minute like pits, rots
etc.
Now I'm looking for a companion
for Sadie. I'm not sure about
male or female. Sadie is an
alpha bitch and very nurturing.
I want her to help me train
another. At the same time i
would like another gsd that has
those same natural instincts
that Sadie exemplifies. And
particularly the silent Hunter
and stalker instead of being the
barker. said barely barks. So
that's the gist of my feedback
and my experience with Sadie and
the bloodlines you have. I'm
sure to talk more with you in
the future soon. And any help in
selecting for us would be
greatly appreciated.

Hi Jeane-
I hope all is well with you.
I've attached some updated
photos of Zustav to this email. We had some
beautiful weather over the
weekend and he loves to work
outside. Zustav continues to be
an amazing and loyal part of our
family. He is my shadow. I
never take a step when he isn't
by my side. He sleeps by my bed
each night. He stays close but
never in the way. He loves to
anticipate my next move. In the
summer heat, he chooses to sit
by the pool, watching
attentively as we swim. In the
winter snow, he chooses to lay
on the edge with steam billowing
around his face as we enjoy the
hot jacuzzi. At the gym, he lies
down by the loud speaker,
patiently waiting for me to
finish my workout. He has
learned my special commands like
move to the left, go back, get
your frisbee, off the court
(basketball), leave it, wait on
it, get it, take it, bring it
and my favorite...stay with him.
This refers to my son. I can
tell Zustav to stay with my son
and he will turn his attention
away from me and follow my son
until I tell him he's ok to
leave him. He is calm and
steady always. I can't tell you
how much I appreciate and love
this boy! I think of you often
when I look at him and thank you
for sending me such an important
part of my life.
take care, Leslie M.

many of you know the incredible

What a
spectacular day! First, MSU beat
Michigan! Then, my spectacular dog
KatoHawk aka "Hawk"
earned his
IPO 1/schutzhund 1 title with scores
of 93 (tracking)- 72 (obedience)- 91
(protection).. (all out of 100
points). We had a bit of
trouble with the dumbbell exercises
(which cost us a lot of points in
obedience), but I couldn't have
asked him to give me any more than
he did! We
got High In Tracking, High IPO-1 and
High In Trial with pronounced
protection! Over the last 4
years, this dog has given me
everything he has... it's been very
frustrating at times, but I couldn't
be more proud of him! For my first
schutzhund dog, he's been a complete
trooper... making up for my handler
mistakes, the hours/days of hard
training and pushing through to the
best he can... he's never waivered
in his desire to please me and for
that it brings tears to my eyes to
think about what he's accomplished!
I couldn't thank everyone along the
way enough that have taught me and
Hawk how to work as a team...
especially Ken
Stupak for
his training and guidance and Lisa
Van B and Nugat
C. Rodriguez for
introducing me to this amazing sport
called schutzhund! Thanks to my
entire training group for supporting
us and being there to watch us
today... it means the world to me to
have your support (you know who you
are)! And of course our breeder (Jean
Schrader) for
giving us this great dog and my best
friend! We can now say Kato Hawk von
Schraderhaus BH, IPO 1! If Vader can
give me as much as you have Hawk...
we will go far! I love this dog more
than words can say and so proud! Scott Waldenmeyer, Denver, CO

"Nicco von Schraderhaus"
aka Nicco-man
Hena Ben -Ju x Norbo Den Lu von Schraderhaus
Male "N" Litter
|
|
|
Nicco
@ 8 mos |
|
Pictures of the Nicco-man doing bite
work Saturday. It was HOT in
Fresno so I hosed him down first.
Everyone’s comments are:
“Are
you SURE he’s only 8 months old?”
“Holy Smokes! Look at that
grip!”
He
absolutely swallows the sleeve and
is eager to bring it back to the
helper…………………a trait I LOVE in dogs.
He is such a wild man however that
some people go get in their car when
we work, afraid he’s going to get
target lock on them. I have
owned German Shepherds continuously
for the past 42 years. In all
that time I have NEVER had a dog as
genuinely defensive as Nicco is.
It is only the e-collar which has
kept him from biting strangers or
neighbors. He IS getting
better as we continue to train but
OMG he’s a hand-full. As I
have always said however, I would
much rather have a dog that I have
to pull the reigns in on than a dog
I need to light a fire under his
ass. One you can do, the other
is impossible.
As I
promised you when we originally
spoke before he was mine, he comes
to work with me every single day and
gets to live a life not one dog in
ten thousand gets to live.
From his toy box, he can accurately
retrieve any one of twenty toys by
name, even discerning between “ball”
and “squeak-ball”, “rope-ball” and
“kick-ball”. He knows
“big-kong” (his very favorite),
“little kong”, “pig”, (I think you
saw a video of him playing with
that), “tug”, “horse”, “rabbit” and
a bunch of others I can’t think of
right now. As fearless as he
is………there is ONE thing he
will not be around. The coffee
grinder causes him to leave the room
every single time. A bit
surprising since his initial fear of
the lawn mower has caused him to
attack it whether it’s running or
not. He actually pulled a tire
completely off the mower.
Ughhh. At eight months old, he
displays behavior which betrays his
youth. He is
loving………incredibly loving to
those he allows into his world, but
God help you if you’re NOT in his
world and your paths cross. I
am confident……..okay,
semi-confident that continued
training will clear his head and
that he will eventually be a good
citizen. Miracles happen and
I’m counting on it!

I love German Shepherds. I grew up
with them. But I'm picky. The
American German Shepherd lines are
prone to hip dysplasia and their
temperaments can be unstable. So
when I looked for a German Shepherd
puppy, I looked for bloodlines that
had been behind the Iron Curtain and
never subjected to the American
puppy mills. A friend who trains
German Shepherds and has extensive
experience with European bloodlines
vetted some websites for me. That's
how I found Schraderhaus German
Shepherds and Merica, aka "Nikita".
Nikita is a gorgeous solid black
German Shepherd who came to live
with me when she was 5 months old.
She is a unique combination of
steadiness, intelligence, and
compassion. I'm a psychologist who
works with trauma survivors. Over
the years I've found that the right
German Shepherd can be a reassuring
presence for trauma survivors.
Nikita has that gift and is in
training to be a therapy dog. She
is able to sense the emotion of
clients and responds with compassion
offering herself as a warm body to
pet and hold. She has even licked a
tear from a cheek.
She is
still a pup and is mischievous and
chews the unwary item, but has
learned quickly to be all business
when "working." Her intelligence
and willingness to learn mean that
she has quickly mastered heel going
immediately to sit when I stop
walking. And she's working on
extending her time at stay. Nikita
is now 7 months old and loved more
every day. She is a blessing to me
and a comfort to the many people she
will aid in their journey toward
healing in the future. Doc Dona |

It was great
speaking with you on the phone Jean!
We could not be happier with Phineto
(aka “Gibson”). He has worked his
way into our hearts and has been an
incredible addition to our home. You
were so right he was the perfect
personality and demeanor for us.
Being our
5th and most likely last at our age;
we have watched each of our GSD’s
display a special trait that we
remember as their unique
characteristic. Gibson is going to
be the “smart one”. We can tell that
already. He is learning commands
very fast, likes to play mind games
and is so alert. As I mentioned loud
noises and chaotic surroundings
don’t bother him at all – he has
already established himself as our
rock band dog and sits right at my
feet as we play (with drums, amps
and PA system). He loves playing in
his water bowl. He and Mojo our
older GSD have become close in a
very short time frame – Gibson has
brought out a new energy to our old
friend. Mojo is doing a great job of
showing the little whippersnapper
the ropes. Here are a
couple of pictures for you – one
after we brought him home and one
just as his ears stood up. I’ll
keep you posted on his progress.
Thanks for providing us with such a
wonderful dog!
Kindest

Female "D" Litter |

Jean: I wanted to
share with you how wonderful our
Ziva is! She is as intelligent as
she is beautiful. As you know we
have had her in training since she
was 10 weeks old and she is doing
extremely well. She picked up her
commands quite quickly. She has a
great demeanor and although
still a “mouthy broad”(we are
working on this), she is sweet and
happy. Ziva gets along extremely
well with our male and frankly we
believe has been a super positive
influence on his overall attitude.
Additionally she seems to get along
well with other dogs both when I
walk her with my walking group and
their dogs and in our now group
training class(she just got
promoted). She loves people and we
are working on her learning not to
bark to get their attention.
Additionally she is alert to the
wildlife, I.E. lets us know when
something is out there but seems to
understand she is not to go after
them such as deer, bunny rabbits and
mountain lions. We always take our
dogs out on a lead because of the
wildlife but it is important that
even on the lead they understand
they are not to chase them. She is
incredibly smart and quickly has
learned hide and seek in the
house(our daughters hide when they
come home and she has to find them).
We intend on doing protection
training and any other training just
to keep her going but all this will
be long term. She is incredibly
healthy and seems to be growing
steadily but at this point is a
little stagnant. Our vet believes
she will be about 80-85lbs. You are
an incredible breeder and I often
recommend you. Please feel free to
give our contact information out to
future clients as we will be happy
to help you in any way. Thank you
for our wonderful Ziva.

"Ku Jake von Schraderhaus"
Hetja von Schraderhaus
x
Sergeant Major von Schraderhaus
Male "K" Litter |
|
Jean, Where do I start. I appreciate
the puppy you sold my children
for my retirement gift. KU
Jake. The male puppy of
Hetja’s 2014 litter. He is a
fine son to me.
I have had german sheppards for the
last 20 years and know they are the
perfect breed....you have done your
part for sure.
I have a 340 acre farm Southeast
of Oxford, Mississippi and
raise cattle for my 2nd job.
It is a rich environment for
dogs of any breed. It offers
wide open space, cattle, horses,
deer, skunks, coons(many
critters), creeks, rivers,
ponds, etc. I now hope to offer
….time, ……something I haven’t
had much to spare in the last 35
years with 2 jobs and 4 kids.
Anyway, Jake so far is the
“bestest with the mostest”. He
is bold, not afraid of anything,
solid, intelligent, listens,
pays attention to me, and
“sheppards me”. These dogs really care about
people and I’m sure you know
that. Buck(1st gsd) would “hit”
any cow/bull that I needed to
move and would look back at me
to be sure which one I was
pointing to. Doc (2nd gsd)
understood/obeyed more
words/commands than my kids
obeyed. Buck was bought out of
the local newspaper, Doc from a
Military/Police breeder.
I have seen a small spectrum of
this breed, from medium to “high
speed”. I know there is a wide
variation in their personality,
but I think their heart is the
same. It is pure. Thanks Jean for all the years of
breeding that has gone into
Jake. It is people like you
that makes this breed what it
is. I appreciate your vocation,
and I know that you enjoyed
doing it or your dogs would not
be what they are.
I
have attached a few photos.(all are
several weeks old) Jake was 41lbs
at his last vet/shots(12-12-14). He
was about 3 months old. He is
probably about 47lbs now. Went thru
a growth spurt and nearly got fat….,
now taller and leaner, and still
growing. I am careful not to
overfeed/underfeed and am feeding
twice a day. I pay attention to
your feeding guidelines on your site
and mix our scraps with his dog
feed. (Fromm dog food ) they have
a site, would welcome your opinion.
Ever down this way, I would love
to show you Jake and the farm.
Keep up the good work, and I
truly appreciate Jake.

"We
have two dogs from Jean. Our oldest is
a 3 year old male (Kato Hawk von
Schraderhaus- Helga z Eurosportu x Lobo
von Schraderhaus) and our youngest is a
1.5 year old male (Peko Vader von
Schraderhaus- Lord v.d. Grauen von
Monstab x Bara z Ronbaru).
Both of our guys are very high drive
males with very solid nerves, clear
heads, an unending desire to please,
playful and great temperaments that we
train & compete in IPO/Schutzhund. Hawk is a black sable
with a solid body structure that
is playful and loving of our
family and possesses an unending
work ethic. He is highly prey
driven and ball crazy! He is
extremely intelligent and
constantly keeps us on our toes
to not become stagnant with our
training. He has a good deep
nose in tracking, an extreme
work ethic in obedience and very
strong protection work.
Hawk
wants nothing more than to
please and work and is perfect
for what we were looking for.
Hawk and I have earned our BH
and will be competing for our
IPO 1, 2 and 3 in 2015.
Vader is a very
substantial black & tan/bicolor
male that definitely takes after
his parents in their
temperament, seriousness,
confidence and trainability. He
is very loving of our family but
is very protective, somewhat
indifferent towards others,
possesses an unending work
ethic, a very clear temperament
but he is a no-nonsense dog that
shows itself during protection
work, where he is very serious. He
shows excellent civil / defense
drives but still has a switch to
work in prey drive as well. He
has a great deep nose for
tracking, is a quick learner in
obedience and shows excellent
protection work with explosive,
very hard and always full grips!
Vader has the potential to be a
very high level IPO/Schutzhund
dog as he continues to mature
and train and is exactly what we
were looking for.
Jean is certainly one of the
great people in our GSD dog
world with a tremendous amount
of knowledge that is helping to
produce some very solid dogs
typical of the old working lines
of the GSD. She is always
willing to answer any
questions... whether it's to
help you find the right dog, or
just to bounce something off
of. She runs a great kennel and
has produced some wonderful
dogs, specifically our boys Hawk
and Vader."

We continue to
make regular trips out in town to
different dog friendly stores and
for the most part she does great.
She approaches people to see if they
have food and will gladly take a
treat and get some loves while she
eats it from strangers. If another
person doesn't have food then she
will just move along, doesn't
particularly enjoy just being pet to
be pet. She seems to
be
getting more energy and wanting
to fetch and play for longer
periods of time which I am
assuming is her just getting
older and having more stamina. I
am eager to get her through her
puppy class and CGC so we can
start onto sport. I am still
leaning towards doing Nose Works
but the training facility I am
attending has a "Try It" class
where you get to experience many
different sports so we might do
that first and see if there is
something else we both enjoy
doing more.
Here
are some more pictures of Fate.
S.T.A.R. puppy class wraps up in
a couple weeks and we start our
CGC class in Jan. We are also
enrolling in a class called "Try
It!" which introduces a new
sport each week to learn about
and try. It includes, Tracking,
Noseworks, Agility (puppy
friendly), Rally, Obedience, and
Trick Training. Depending on how
that goes, we will find a sport
we both enjoy doing and start
training in that. Hope all is
well for you and you have happy
holidays!
Thanks for staying in touch and
I will try to send some more
pictures soon!

Hi
Jean, I wanted to thank you for
being so patient with me after getting
one of your German Shepherd male pups,
with our concerns he may be too much
dog for me. Your willingness to help
me along with your trainer, so as to train one on one
in order for us to keep Yogi, was
the right choice, rather than
exchange him for a female. What
a mistake that would have been.
Yogi is such a cool guy, now at

Hi Jean,
I
wanted to take a moment to send a
few pictures of “Deacon” (Alord) and
let you know how pleased I am with
my purchase. As you
know I’m a Lutheran pastor in
Tacoma, and every pastor needs at
least one good “Deacon” right? And
this friend of mine certainly is. He
goes everywhere with me. He loves my
church and all of my congregants! Deacon
is growing into quite the dog! He is
going to be a nice agile sized GSD.
He is very smart. He loves the
work… And he is obsessed with the
ball; which is great because it
allows me to exercise him easily
that way! His training is going
great too! Deacon
is now almost 9 months old. Like his
father Lord, he is a no-nonsense
boy. Good thing I’ve had four other
GSD before him as I understand, and
can handle the breed quite well, but
I have to say, this dog is extremely
smart… not to mention that he is the
most handsome of all my dogs, as
well as all other shepherds I see…
Sure I’m biased… But I think you’ll
agree when you look at the pictures!
Good breeding Jean! Anyway
I just wanted to thank you for this
wonderful litter pick, and I
appreciate your friendship, and
helpful suggestions along the way
with my boy. And BTW…if you’re ever
in Tacoma on a Sunday morning… Well
you know what I’m sayin
In

Hi Jean, Attached is Eli (Itty x
Lux) at 5.5 weeks and 22
months. As you know I was very
precise in my 'special order'
puppy (not to mention waiting 18
months for this specific
breeding) :) You
delivered on every request! Eli
got his CGC at 5 months, CGCA at
7 months. We then did about 6
months of nose work and we got a
little bored with it so a couple
of months ago we started Rally.
We just participated in our
first fun match this weekend.
Eli scored 97, 97, 98. I
probably over heard about the
same number of 'that's a
beautiful dog' comments as we
went from crate to ring
side. We are entered in our
first trial in Jan. He is a FUN
dog. I couldn't be more
pleased...which is why I have
another 'specific' order in with
about the same 18 month wait
list! lol
I just want to add
that your support and
interest in your pups after
they leave is much
appreciated...and a
testament to your character.

Hello
Jean,
Here is a couple of updated pictures
of our not so little puppy. Born
April 1, 2012 "W" litter of Norbo
Den Lu and Odessa. If I remember
correctly he was the lime green
collar. The first two pictures are
of Wradar at two years of age and
the last picture is at two and half
years of age. Wradar is enjoying life in Northern
Saskatchewan, winter is his favorite
time of the year. -50 degrees
Celsius is no match for him. We
chose a Schraderhaus puppy because
we wanted a dog for home protection
but also a family pet that would be
very protective of our kids. He has
become that and so much more.
Wherever our kids are that is where
he wants to be and if he is not
Wradar has no problem letting you
know he is not happy about it. We
have always had Labrador Retrievers
as a family pet and this is our
first dog out side of the breed and
we are NOT disappointed. Our lab
Gauge is getting old and Wradar has
become quite protective of him as
well. He tolerates small dogs but
gets along with larger breeds, but
only after we have let him know it
is ok. When the time comes for
another puppy we will definitely be
in contact Jean. Thank you for
listening to our needs and making
sure we got the best puppy for our
family. Sarah and Dave L Saskatchewan,

just turned one on Monday and
she is by far the best dog I've
ever had the pleasure to own.
She is beautiful, even tempered
not to mention smart as a whip.
She's earned her STAR puppy and
her CGC. We're still deciding
what to pursue next with her.
She is calm and well-mannered in
the house, but is focused and
intense when training or
playing. She has an intense ball
drive, but we've never had a
problem with her chasing cats or
wild animals on walks. She is
completely reliable in off leash
training and never fails to
listen. She is honestly perfect.
Thank you so much for everything
you do and for giving us the
best four legged family member
we could imagine!

She's been the best dog/

She is amazing. . She sure
is an excellent addition to

with babies,children & other
people ,dogs too, I've
socialized her since she
came to me She goes everywhere we go
:). I get compliments about
her constantly , how pretty
she is & how calm she is. 2
Vets even told me they have
never seen such a calm
Sheperd before. They were /
are impressed. Also, she is
such a sweetheart :).
Everyone wants her .
Although I've tried to put
her in a search & rescue
training. Here where I live,
just isn't much training
here. I hope someday to do
this . Meanwhile, she is an
excellent dog :). Fast
learner, as you know. You
have quality dogs :). I tell
people all the time about
your kennel. I would like to
breed her sometime, maybe
with one of your studs. I'd
only want her to have one
litter though.
Talk to you soon ,
hope you have a nice day

Hi Jean, I just wanted to send
you some updated pictures of our
boy! He continues to be a dream.
Both Zustav and Zargo are
amazing boys. They are best of
friends. Zustav is a thick,
powerhouse of a dog. He doesn't
leave my side. In fact, our home
is completely fenced with over 2
acres of property for the boys
to play. If I'm inside and
Zustav is outside, he won't
leave the door that he has last
seen me go in. Many times we go
outside and encourage him to go
have fun in the yard but he just
waits for me...so sweet! He
never jumps on the door or
scratches to get in. He just
waits for me. He is most
comfortable sitting beside me
while Zargo would prefer to be
sitting in my lap! I couldn't
ask for better boys.
Thanks for my best Friends,

She is bright and happy

Ustav @ 6 months of age |
I have
two dogs from Schraderhaus k9 (Tess
and Ustav), and am about to get a
third. I have owned numerous German
Shepherds over the years, but none
of them could even hold a candle to
Jean's dogs. Her dogs possess
exceptional beauty, amazing
temperaments, and strong drive.
However, unlike many drivey dogs
I've had, these pups are VERY EASY
to live with. They know when to calm
down, and what we expect of them.
They
are protective of all who live in
our home (us, grandma, and kids),
but will accept strangers or
visitors as long as they see WE are
ok with those people. They are calm
around strangers, never acting
nervous or spastic. They just lay by
our sides, looking up at us
periodically to make sure everything
is ok. I used to train dogs, but
with these pups, only basic
obedience is necessary if they are
just going to be pets. I have not
done any formal training with them.
No protection work at all. They
honestly don't need it. They look
right in my eyes to ask what I want
them to do, and then they do it.
The
intelligence of these dogs is
sometimes unnerving.. My male,
Ustav, knows how to open doors if
they have a lever handle, and we did
NOT teach him this. He uses his huge
snout to push the lever. He knows
he's not supposed to do it, but once
in a while he will let himself in or
out just to show off. He is the
funniest dog I've ever had. As he's
opening the door, his eyes look in
my direction to make sure I'm
watching, then he slinks off because
he knows mom is going to reprimand
him. lol
Our female Tess excels at
anything she puts her mind to.
Both pups are fast, well
built and as strong as an ox.
We
certainly love these pups and are
very impressed with Jean's breeding
program. Joanne W. in AZ |

The Kaiser
aka Kaiser @ 1 yr T Litter |
Kaiser
will be turning 1 year in a week or
so and he is amazing. He is so
intelligent, obedient, loyal and
affectionate, not to mention goofy.
We take him everywhere. He is great
with other animals and people we
come across, as long as your not
trying to enter our property. That
boy is so intimidating when he's on
our side of the fence, you'd think
he was going to eat you! When we're
out and about he is very steady, but
ever so often his hackles will go up
and we know it's for a reason and we
just trust him.
Kaiser and our son, Reid (6 years
old) are "brothers", they have a
pretty special relationship. We'll
just watch them together and it's
hilarious. Kaiser will jump up on
Reid and knock him down, Reid will
then get up and literally tackle
Kaiser. It's their game, totally
equal and ridiculous. We don't allow
the jumping, but he doesn't do that
to anyone else, just Reid. Reid will
kick him, like he's sparring a kid
in Tae Kwon Do and Kaiser will
basically kick him back. It's the
funniest thing to watch. He watches
that boy like a hawk, it's Kaiser's
cause.
I know I've said this before, but we
couldn't be happier with Kaiser.
Eric and I will just watch him and
say all the things we love about
him, but the most surprising is how
funny he is. He does the most
hilarious things sometimes.
He'll box with our other dogs, on
his back feet, both paws up in the
air smacking their faces.
Kaiser is a fantastic dog, we love
him so much and can't imagine our
family without him!

Jean, my
name is Becca and I am the Training
Manager at the Academy of Canine
Behavior. I have been a GSD owner my
whole life and during my 7+ years at
AOCB I have seen a few hundred of
them with, unfortunately, only a
handful being dogs I would take home
myself. We see the worst of worst in
terms of bad behaviors but we also
see dogs that just need some manners
training to make them exceptional
pets. Most of the dogs whom I would
live with are not attractive. Looks
don't mean a lot but I've yet to
meet anyone looking for a pet that
doesn't go to what appeals to them
visually first. We have had only a
small fraction of your dogs in (3: 2
dogs and a bitch) and I am amazed at
their good looks and excellent
temperaments! Pat yourself on the
back, you've got a good breeding
program going and I will be
contacting you in a few years when
I'm looking to get a good looking,
stable puppy. -Becca

Hi
Jean, I received papers yesterday. I will
scan and send to you this afternoon!
Zustav is doing amazingly well with
Zargo! They love each other. Zustav
is a real showstopper! Everyone
stops to ask about him. I'll send
more pictures of him. He is so
photogenic. My daughter made a movie
of Zustav and Zargo for school. I'll
try to send it. I am asked for his
breeders name often, so you may
start getting some calls from East
Tennessee. Thanks Jean, once again you have
exceeded our expectations! These are superb dogs! Leslie

Milo @ 17 mos |
We thought we would
send you a few photos of
Milo. Right at 17 months. 85
pounds and skinny as a rail,
could very nicely carry
95-100 pounds when/if he
fills out. He still gets
"jumped' by other dogs
because he is so good
natured with other animals.
Largely ignores people
unless they have been
invited into the home, at
which point he interacts
nicely. He is a swimming
machine, he will literally
swim laps around the lake
for an hour if allowed to do
so. His drive is off the
charts, for us anyway. The
harder the task is to
execute physically, the more
determined he becomes and
the more he enjoys it. Very
alert and definitely "turns
it up" after dark. It has
been interesting to see how
he has learned to accept
normal noise, but a strange
car or voice in the cul de
sac at night gets an
immediate response. To be perfectly
honest we thought we may
have bit off more than we
could chew, but we stuck in
there and very pleased with
how he has matured. It
would be hard to imagine
having anything other than a
working German shepherd in
the future. Something else I
think I should share. All
the vets who have interacted
with him at the clinic have
remarked on how confident he
is and what a positive
difference that makes in a
routine visit. Please feel free to
use these pics as you see
fit.

Ustav @ 6 months of age |
Hi Jean!
Sorry I haven't
written in so long. Attached is a
picture of Ustav (he's six months old
now). I
don't have anything recent of Tess, but
will try to get one soon.Anyway
- both pups are doing GREAT. We like to
liken them to Velociraptors (like from
the movie Jurassic Park) because they
are both so smart, and when they find
something like a leaf, or stick, or
whatever, they huddle around it and
"discuss" it. You'd have to see it to
believe it. They are the funniest pups
ever!
So, Tess is about 9 months old
now. She and Ustav have both learned to
get in the pool to cool off and seem to
love the water. They are learning lots
of new commands, and will start in
herding classes once the weather cools
off! (115 degrees here right now). :(
Their only exercise this time of year is
the pool, so I'm glad they like it!
Tess finally
found her "voice" a couple months back.
She is the neatest dog....... She never
says a word (barking) unless there is a
GOOD REASON. We know that if Tess
barks, we need to pay attention! Other
than the occasional reason to bark, she
is very quiet, never whines, etc. She
and Ustav both are calm and happy, but
very protective over us, the kids and
our home. We are so blessed and happy
to have them! I thank you very very
much for breeding such good dogs. They
are such a great part of our family.

Just
a brief note to let you know how
Wolfgang is doing -
OUTSTANDING!!! He is one
awesome dog and he is coming
along great in his training.
Long down stays are consistent,
as are his other commands and we
will be starting off leash work
in the backyard with trainer
guidance. He is really
good with a very slow, stutter
step heel which is how someone
with a prosthesis would be
walking. I am now exposing
him to canes, wheelchairs, etc
so he isn't hesitant with them
and he is coming right along
there as well. In addition
he is a one dog laugh track with
his antics and affection.
I am becoming convinced that he
knows CPR - when I have loud
allergy sneezes he comes running
and starts kneading on my chest
with his paws and sticks his
mouth up to mine!! He
plays Dental Kong soccer by
himself all over the house and
rarely lets it out of his mouth,
can even lay on his back and
with it between front paws and
legs extended moves it around
above his head. He is
naturally protective and if I
leave him out of his crate at
night he sleeps right in front
of the door (not something I
trained him to do) and
downstairs he lays by the front
door. People still stop
and ask me about him, including
a sheriff, today a Harley rider
who was growled at when he first
came up but after I assured him
it was okay he did settle.
I'm going to be looking for a camera
soon so hopefully will be able to
get some pictures of him being
great.Will
be in touch soon and couldn't be
happier. Patti.

Hi
Jean, As you know I have been meaning to send you a note to
add to your testimonial page. Hopefully this helps other people who are
searching for a healthy German shepherd puppy and a responsible breeder.
After losing my second gsd to DM, I was determined to do everything to find a
breeder who took such health matters seriously with their breeding stock.
I was fortunate enough to find you, Jean, and better yet to find my Tigra Lozen. What a treasure she is. Bright, energetic, even
tempered and nerves of steel. She has just turned 6 months and I have her
in an obedience class filled with dogs of every size, age and temperament.
From day one she has been a joy to work with. The trainer specializes in
German shepherds and has commented on her balanced temperament and her extreme
confidence. He knows and enjoys training the DDR lines, so I valued the
comments even more.
As I told you before,
Jean, I had not planned to get another dog so soon after the loss of Raine.
Especially one I had not “met”. But, in talking with you, I found your
help to be invaluable. You spent the necessary time with me and it became
obvious that the welfare of your dogs came first. You got to know me and
our family dynamics in order to judge if the environment was proper for the
puppy. And you tried to ensure that we received a puppy that would not
overwhelm us. Most importantly,
Jean, you did not disappear after we took possession of the puppy. That
is, you always were there, and continue to take an interest in the health and
welfare of Tigra Lozen. That is important to me. It shows true
commitment to your breeding program.I will
send you some pictures when I have a chance. And when we get ready for
another, be assured I will be talking to you. Thanks again jean.Nancy Blazevich

Dear Jean, As per our contract I have
gotten Niko's hips (and elbows)
x-rayed and sent. I know per the
contract you wanted a copy of
the x-rays as well. We have a
digital disk and wanted to know
if you want the physical copy or
if a digital copy (sent via
email) would suffice. The vet
said the hips look good and the
elbows looked excellent. Niko (Einstein) is doing well.
We are currently going to search
and rescue training 2 times a
week and he is performing well
(Area scent/search). I am
extremely satisfied with his
drive, temperament, and
especially his intelligence, I
only wish he wasn't my first
working dog, I tend to spoil him
with too much attention at
times. I have attached 3
pictures because I love my

Looking forward to

Dear Jean,
Writing you to inform you of the
heroic act
that Sarge performed today. The
neighbor (a woman) was in the shower
and came out to find an
unknown man in her bedroom.
My daughter and niece where playing
in the backyard, when a man that was
burglarizing the neighbors house was
startled by the
woman entering her bedroom.
He then ran out of her house and
jumped over my fence,
going
over and into my yard, where Sarge
and the girls where playing.
At this point I wasn't sure what to
do, but Sarge did all the work. Sarge grabbed the man by the bicep
and brought him to his knees.
I ran over and pulled Sarge off of
the man, and Sarge immediately calmed down
and my six year old walked him into
the house. I must thank you for a
well bred dog. I could not ask for
any better dog to be around my
family. And I've only had him a
week and two days. My family and i
would like to thank you for the
bottom of our hearts for this
special boy. If he is able to work this way at
only 7 months, I so look forward
to watch him work at an older age. I
will keep you up to date on all
training and titles he receives.
Thank you again for this super
puppy. Daraun

Tia @ 3.5 mos |
Hi Jean,
Thought
I’d just let you know how happy
we are with Tia – she is a
remarkable little puppy!
She’s so brave & confident, and
very smart - she learned the
sitz and plotz commands within
24 hours of bringing her home,
and she just motors down the
puppy tracks I’ve set for her
with her nose just buried deep
in the grass. Housebreaking has
been a breeze. You’re
absolutely right about your
puppies being used to loud
noises – Jerome started up the
lawn mower with her about 15
feet away and she just looked up
at it and gave a couple of
ferocious little barks while she
moved towards it (on leash with
the little harness she wears now
instead of a collar).
She’s been for numerous car
rides in her crate to run
errands with me, been at my barn
(where she also tried to put the
horses in a hold & bark), at the
feed store (where she again
barked at a backhoe when it
started up right in front of
her), and she loves exploring
the woods around our home with
me.
Her
first vet check last Tuesday
went well, and my vet is very
impressed with her structure
(and also your health contract).
She hasn’t had any runny poop at
all, and last Thursday I started
to switch her over to a raw
salmon/tripe mix instead of the
canned. I am planning on
entering her in the 3-6 month
puppy class at the breed survey/Sieger
show in Langley BC at the end of
April where she’ll probably be
up against some of Tracy
Bullinger’s puppies, so I’ll let
you know how she does. The
judge is from Germany. I’m
taking her out to my Schutzhund
club tomorrow night for the
first time, they have a great
giant puppy play area with all
types of obstacles and fun
stuff.
Thank
you so very much for all your
help in picking the right pup
for us, she’s going to be a
strong girl. Can’t wait to
introduce her to the beaches
nearby…..oh, and thanks for the
tip about leaving the leash on
her during the daytime – it does
make it a lot easier to grab
her. I’ve raised my share
of puppies and Tia is the most
confident and quickest to learn
of any I have trained.
Thanks again
Holly & Jerome

UPDATE>> May 2012 |

|
Hi
Jean, Just
wanted to touch base with you and
let you know Tia took
second place
in the Baby Puppy class at the
Western
Regionals (Canada) Sieger show
last weekend. I
attached a couple of photos for you
– we’re so happy with her. She’s a
hell of a little tracker, she’s
already doing 100 pace U-shaped
tracks and she loves it, she doesn’t
want to quit. She and my 12 yr
old female Indy have a ball playing
together, and she’s also doing well
with obedience. So smart, and picks
everything up so quickly, super
affectionate and social, but I can
see she has a ton of drive and SO
strong - when anyone tries to hold
her while I run away for a recall
they can barely hold on to her.
Can’t get over how in a 2 day period
she got extremely black, it happened
so
fast. Everyone at my dog club
thinks she’s just beautifully marked
- when I was looking at pictures of
your N litter she looks almost
identical to Nikita (and her mom).
Her legs look like she’s wearing
little light brown spats over black
boots, and a light brown shawl
around her neck. She is going
to be a big girl!
I think
she’s adorable, love how she talks a
lot, and know she’s rejuvenated my
older girl who is tolerating her
puppy antics in a way I find
surprising. She lets Tia crawl all
over her and has only once had to
put Tia in her place, and then Tia
was quite apologetic to her, was
pretty cute to see. Jerome is
madly in love with her also…..
Can’t
wait to see how she progresses in
her Schutzhund career, and I am
planning on trying herding and
agility with her as well. Hopefully
we’ll have achievements to add to
your progeny page as we progress.
Still can’t get over how much she
looks like Nikita. Thanks so much
for bringing her into our lives.
Always Molly

Hi Jean,
Joanna Wachtmann here in
AZ with S.Tess and Ustav. :) I am so surprised at how
STOUT Ustav is! He reminds me
of a BULL. :) He is gorgeous
and we're having so much fun
with him already! Nickel and
Tess took right to him, but
Tess wanted to play REALLY bad
and I eventually had to crate
her. She's gotten so big and
strong and I was afraid she'd
hurt him even though I was
controlling the situation and
had her leashed......Nickel sort of
"mothered" him, and let him lay
by her belly. It was really
sweet.Wow. What a good
night! You make great baby
dogs! Gotta run. Just wanted
to send you a quick update
before I get some shut eye, as I
assume Ustav will be up bright
and early wanting MORE FOOD. :)

Ryker @ 4 wks |
"Ider Konig Ryker von Schraderhaus"
Ricochet von Schraderhaus x Dino v Schaferliesel Male
|
|
Hi
Jean, I've been meaning to write to you
for so long!
I don't want to make you
feel too badly about
letting "Ryker" out of your sight,
and for not keeping him yourself.
But Jean, Ryker is perfect. First
of all, he is--by far--the funniest
dog I've ever known. I was taking a
bath the other day, upstairs and
down a hall, and I heard a cabinet
open in the kitchen, feet running up
the stairs, and then down the hall
to the bath tub. Thoughtfully,
Ryker had gone into the kitchen
cabinet to get a huge jar of peanut
butter for our little get-together
by the tub. He put it on the side
of the bath tub, perfectly upright,
then sat down, very politely,
all-business, to see what I might
have brought to the party. And he
just kept on staring at me as I was
laughing hysterically, and splashing
the water at him. He sat there with
a "game-face" as if thinking people
get like this sometimes, then they
settle down! Ryker is unbelievable. Do you
remember, early on, when I commented
that he didn't seem to have a lot of
ball drive, but he made up for it
with his FOOD drive? I was wrong
about the ball drive--in fact, I've
never seen so much intensity, drive
and focus. I first discovered it
when we were in front of the
house one day and I was watering
plants. At first, I thought he must
be really, really thirsty--he kept
jumping toward the end of the hose
with his mouth wide open. Then I
thought he had rabies, because it
was getting a little manic and I
remember the last police dog trial I
attended when the final test was to
get the dogs to do the task, while
someone was spraying them with a
hose (most of the gsds were acting
like little babies, very put off,
insulted, by the water).
Since I was getting trampled by this
crazed dog who wouldn't stop, I
turned the hose on him, started
spraying his chest. He went NUTS!
The joy! The joy! Now he was
lunging at me in a way a starving
wolf in the wilds might lunge at pot
roast. He was going to seriously
knock me over, so I turned the hose
into his face. About 15 minutes
into this water war, we were both
drenched, I was out of breath,
exhausted, the kids heard the
ruckus, and were out there
video-taping. Eventually, the game
could only be ended by turning
off the water. One more story. We were at the
nursery, looking at plants, I like
to take him there for socialization,
but he had stopped and was staring
at this guy like he was about to rip
him to shreds. I gave him a little
jerk, saying, menacingly, "quit,"
then "heel." Ryker would not take
his eyes off this guy. I marched him
off in the opposite direction, but
his head was turned around like a spaz,
not taking his eyes off this guy.
Eventually, I got things under
control, and we turned back to walk
right by the guy. Ryker saw him,
locked on, but kept walking. The guy
was so nervous. He was an employee
there, watering plants. AHA!
WATERING PLANTS!
He said, "what kind of dog is that?"
and I, now wanting to keep the guy
from wetting his pants, said, "oh
he's just a puppy! he's about 24
weeks old (it sounds so much younger
than 6 months). The guy looked
skeptical. In fairness, Ryker had
the no-expression "game-face" on,
also used at times of carrying
peanut butter to bath tub parties,
but people are so quickly
intimidated by his face. I said to
the guy, "Turn your hose on him."
He said, "Oh, I don't want to make
him mad, that's ok." I said,
"you're really going to have to
trust me on this." When Ryker saw
that water coming his way he started
leaping and cavorting off the
ground, twisting in the air, biting
at the water, doing those puppy
whines of excitement, pulling toward
the source. Several people had
gathered, watching, laughing. He is
a funny, funny guy. And
exuberant!! And so damn smart!! He
carries a slightly deflated
basketball around the house. Or
someone's cell phone, if he can get
it. We just love this little rascal,
Jean. He's perfect!
Fondly,
Lindsey

Hi
Jean!
I hope you are well!
UPDATE
I don't know if I told you this
before, but Ryker has subsequently
MASTERED the skill of opening
doorknobs. I'll hear the doorknob
turning, thinking it's one of the
kids, say, "Hey, just a second--I'm
in here!" only to have Ryker throw
open the door and act joyful. I
believe he thinks my disappearance
is a great game of
hide-and-go-seek. He has even
jumped on me, then, and I can
practically hear him say, "I LOVE it
when you play this game! We should
do it more often!" Everything is a
game, everything is interesting and
must be part of some game.
On the flip-side, I guy approached
my car one evening, when I was
parked in the parking lot, and I
thought our little friend was going
to break the windows. The guy was
creepy, on drugs, it was dark, I saw
him just a few seconds before he
reached the car, told the kids to
just let Ryker do his thing and not
discourage him in any way, and
that's when the C-4 went off.
That's what we call him
sometimes--"C-4." Because when he's
called to duty, it's C-4.
I'm dying to show you a few pictures
of him that, unfortunately, don't do
him justice, as I am just learning
how to use my camera!!!
Nonetheless, he's a show-stopper.
He turns heads wherever he goes.
Oh-you wondered how big he is--I'll
measure his height at the shoulder
for my next email. Took him in to
the vet's for a shot a couple of
weeks ago, and he was 96 pounds, and
trim! Not a little guy.
Enjoy the pics.

Hey Jean,
Its been quite awhile since we
last talked and/or picked up our
(Helga/Lobo) puppy from you. I
really dont know how to put in
words how amazing and what Kyah
has meant for our family since
we got her. She is everything we
wished for and more. I will
never forget, before we even
picked her up, attending the
local schutzhund club. I always
maintained my dedication to work
with Kyah and sink or swim with
her when we got her, not having
her was never
an option in my book. I've
learned alot about the dog
world, and the many strong
opinions about training and what
is the right thing to do with
your dog. I tried to absorb as
much as i could in order to make
well informed training decisions
and one of the decisions i made
was to start basic OB training
(Starr Puppy) at about 6mo. I honestly
believe that was one of the best
decisions ive made to date as
Kyah has become a very well
behaved dog that i truly feel
i can take anywhere with little
to no problem. I've been very
active in the local schutzhund
club here in the tri-cities and i have learned
alot and met some good people
through the club.
I have enclosed some pictures of
Kyah as i would love to have her
photo in your Progeny working
dog page. I'm open to discussing
what photo is best of her but my
current favorite Is Kyah biting
the sleeve (You may notice
the decoys red hair...? Look
familiar...yeah that's Colleen
Neubert). It would be an honor if
possible.
Again Jean thanks for everything
you have truly matched me and
my family with the perfect dog.
Take care,

so smart he always keeps me on my

to know how to open bedroom doors.
He doesn't walk in, he just wants
to be able to see what I'm doing
that I felt it necessary to keep him
out or just to let my parents know
he's up. Lol. I couldn't be
happier with him as he just loves to
play or just be right there with me
wherever I go. He absolutely loves
it when I bring him with me to work
and he gets to play with my
coworkers or anybody who's willing.
Not to say he's not protective
because he's all too willing to let
people know to keep their distance
from our house and car, at least
until I let him know everything is
OK. Here he is from this past
weekend. His white spot is still
hard to catch unless sitting or
standing right in front of the

He is
totally at home here. Took him
out today to the pharmacy and then
to PetSmart where he did fantastic
and people were asking me alot of
questions about him and telling me
how gorgeous he is. DUH, we
already knew that, huh!
Shopping carts, dogs, people,
nothing fazed him. He was very
attentive and alert, which he is all
the time, but no aggressive signs at
all. He rode in the back seat
of the truck like a champ.
The only
thing so far has been watching him
learn to do the stairs in the house.
Obviously he is better now, but
first few times were really funny.
Talk about a klutz, but I kept him
on a leash so he didn't break his
neck. Had a really hard time
not laughing at him. He and
Spirit are doing great together.
She has told him NO a couple of
times but that's all. He has a
favorite toy, which is a Kong dental
toy. Takes it everywhere we
will let him and would have us play
with it 24/7 if we let him.
If you would send me a few business
cards I'd be happy to give them to
people who ask for them. Not
just anyone will get them. Well,
need to get to some house work now that
we did our errands and will keep in
touch. If you couldn't tell, we kind of
like him and you can use me as a
reference any time. Thanks
